Chamonix, the town on Mont Blanc’s north face, is a mountain village combining a traditional and modern lifestyle. In 1942,  the winter Olympic Games took place in this town and since then Chamonix has become one of the most favourite winter destination of the French Alps.

The Town

Chamonix is a mountain town with about 9’000 inhabitans. Chamonix, often called „Cham“, offers uncountable indoor and outdoor activities.

Lovers of culinary specialities can find top-class rewarded restaurants to little Alpine local restaurants offering Gratin, Raclette, or Tartiflette. There are a multitude of restaurants allowing you to experience a different type of cuisine every day. In Chamonix, you can also visit world-famous boutiques as well as local brand shops.

In addition there are numerous spas, casinos, pubs, bars, and a cinema.

The Valley

There are couples of bigger ski resorts in the valley of Chamonix. In the resort Aiguille du Midi you can take the second highest lift which goes up to 3’842m above the sea level. The resort Le Brévent and La Flégère are just next to it and they offer all together  152km of slopes.

Besides the wide range of possible sport activities and splendid nature, there are also numerous museums and galleries to visit.

Activities

The town of Chamonix and the valley offer a range of winter and summer activities.

Besides skiing and snowboarding on pistes with one of the most spectacular views in the world, you can enjoy other winter activities such as ice climbing, helicopter tours, paragliding, fat biking,  snowshoeing and even husky sledging.

During the summer season you can enjoy hiking at all level trails, mountaineering, paragliding, golfing, or playing tennis. Another spectaculatr activity is to visit one of  France’s largest glacier called the ‚Sea of Ice‘.
